Wax seal stickers have made a comeback in popularity for their vintage charm and ability to elevate crafts and stationery with a personal touch. These versatile and charming stickers can be used in countless ways, allowing you to add a unique and customized element to everything from sealing envelopes to craft projects.
As a calligrapher, I have sealed thousands of envelopes, most of which were wedding invitations. Many of those envelopes were sealed with wax. If you are planning on adding wax seals to your wedding invitations, having premade wax seals allows you the convenience of prepping this step in advance so there’s less rush at mailing time.
In this post, we'll guide you through the process of creating your own wax seal stickers, from gathering the necessary supplies to creative uses for your finished stickers.

I. Gathering Your Supplies
What you’ll need:
glue gun sealing wax
glue gun (like this Elmer’s one or this Gorilla one)
double sided stickers (find them on Etsy)
silicon mat or non-stick pan
Wax Seal Stickers
To create your own wax seal stickers, you'll need a few essential supplies: wax, glue gun (full size), a stamp, 3M double-sided stickers (1 inch size), and a silicon mat or non-stick pan.
Keep in mind that the quality of your supplies can greatly impact your results.
Brands like Uniqooo are known for their reliable wax options, while Stampitude and Pelargon Design offer high-end choices at a slightly higher price point.
These sealing wax sticks and flower design wax stamp are from Pelargon Design. If you are looking for a luxurious element to add to your wedding invites, this is the brand! I love the elegant packaging and the sweet keepsake pouch that came with the stamp.
II. Step-by-Step Guide to Making Wax Seal Stickers
Get started by setting up your workstation with a non-stick pan or silicone mat.
Add your chosen wax color to a glue gun set on a low temperature to prevent boiling.
Then, squeeze out the wax onto your mat in a quarter-sized puddle. While the wax is still warm, press your stamp into the center of the wax.
Once cooled, remove the seal and apply a double-sided sticker to the underside of the wax. Leave the 3M sticker backing on until you are ready to use the wax seal stickers.
Finished! Your wax seal sticker is now ready to be used! For larger batches, using multiple stamps can speed up the process.
Wax Seal Beads
You can also use wax seal beads to make wax seal stickers. BUT if you have a lot of wax seal stickers to make, it’s a lot faster to use sealing wax sticks and a glue gun.
Sealing beads are great if you only need to make a couple of wax seals or want to switch up the colors every few seals.
To use wax seal beads, you’ll need a melting spoon and a wax seal furnace (also called a melting pot).
These Antique Gold wax seal beads, stamp and melting spoon are from Uniqooo.
III. Creative Uses for Wax Seal Stickers
Aside from adding an elegant touch to wedding invitations, wax seal stickers can be used in a variety of creative ways. Experiment with different colors and use them to seal letters or attach them to gift wrap for a personalized touch. You can also incorporate them into your scrapbooking or crafting projects.
